Advent waiting day four. I was reading in Leviticus this morning of the bloody mess of sin and redemption and was reminded of Christ comment in Luke, “stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Cancer, war, famine, refugees, floods, pain, sorrow, tears—sin, death; when will it end? Waiting could be added to that list. When will it end? One of the great metaphors of Advent is lighting that candle, producing light, participating in “let there be light!” Carrying that light forward in our lives as we pass through our neighbors who each carry their own burden of sins affects. For now, we are His “redemption drawing near”. Allow that candle you lit last night to be with you today as you draw Him near to those He places you with. Lift up your heads to see those He is drawing you near so that He can be with them—while we all wait for the wait to end.
