Advent waiting day ten. Baby, it’s cold outside this dark morning, the land and growth lying still in the bitterness of winter, laying, waiting, all is calm and quiet waiting for the sun—light and with it warmth. Oh, the hopefulness of light; the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.
I can almost hear the outside knocking, waiting and wanting to come inside. Can you imagine the outside laying by the fire, the long cold wait ended? I guess that’s called summer, another kind gift of God. And the LORD… said to himself, “…As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.”
One day we will all be inside with Him. “No longer will you need the sun to shine by day, nor the moon to give its light by night, for the Lord your God will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.”
Baby it’s cold outside.
