You Can Do This

“Rejoice in the Lord always…”
Rejoice: to feel or express great joy or happiness

Often you will not “feel” it but there is never a time when you cannot choose to “express” it.

Surprised Lilies

My Surprise Lilies are breaking ground.  They mean so much to me.  They come up in the early spring, the long slender leaves so green and plentiful and then die and lay like shriveled threads on the ground before disappearing all together.  Then invariably in the midst of the heat of summer, I, in passing, notice the delicate bloom, tied tight before budding, springing up to fragrant flower.  It is always a joyful surprise.  So much like life on earth.  We flourish in the spring, live lives of meaning and then die and fade away until one day the trumpet will sound and we will be called forth as blooming lilies of the Bride Groom.  I believe even the faithful will be surprised at the resurrection, surprised lilies.

“There is a place of quiet rest, Near to the heart of God…”

I have a personal dislike for Blue Jays, one of which is screeching outside my porch as I write.  Birds should sing and not screech. Reba McEntire has started a Facebook request for all of us to “Pray for Peace.”  Praying is like singing. Humans should pray more and screech less.

“Forgetting The Past…”

I got stuck in a terrible traffic jam a week ago and spent and hour sitting on the interstate. I never did find out what had stopped my progress.  After an hour I got off the next exit and took a different route home.  Nothing can hinder your forward progress but that which lies ahead of you.  However often my past continually blocks my peaceful confident progress forward.  It is like stopping on the interstate and refusing to go forward because you remembered the road construction 20 miles behind you.  It is impossible, the road is clear and clearly marked 70mph but sometimes there I sit on the road of life stewing and worrying over my past.

A Right Angle

Slanting rain on a mountain lake plane created a right angle in me i.e.  God is good, all the time.
