Establishing You For His Day

I cannot tell you the number of times I have glanced up from my morning readings and was captivated by dawn.  In those instants God is affirmed in me and a life offered that is as glorious as God Alive inside me.  It establishes me for His Day.

I often wonder, “Is This God coming to me in A Way that He knows is best for me or is This God available to all who seek Him?”  I would believe that This Is God’s Way.

The Chase Is Always The Proof

I once sat in a great meadow high in the Rockies watching children chase happily after a summer rainbow.  I now wonder if we haven’t abandoned the color and the pot of gold to believe the puddle we live in is proof of the rainbow.

Awakening In The Winter Studio

Every clear dawn in the winter woods is like waking in the grandest stained glass studio, the tracery done, now waiting only for the translucent color of spring.

The "It's Raining" Blues

It is raining.  Often rain refreshes and builds in us a gratitude of sincerity.  But on other occasions a rain is another cord in a wet and sad blues tune.  If you have the blues you shouldn’t listen to the blues even if it’s playing on the roof above your head.

The Scent That Proved God

Prove to me that there is a god!  I have no proof other than the love for others that lives in me despite me, or that the sun gives light to murders and saints or that babies are born in a rush of fluid and blood that is so pure it has no scent.

Let me relay to you a true story.  Our youngest son was born on a very hot day in the back seats of our brand new van.  As is the case the birth was pre and post proceeded by a flood of liquid, blood and tissue that soaked our new cloth seats and seeped in as we lay crying and holding our new son.  When the ambulance arrived, I locked the van and rode with my wife and new son to the hospital.  Later that evening I got a ride back to the van and on the way it occurred to me that our brand new van would surely stink being filled with birth fluid and locked in the hot sun all day.  I will never forget when I opened the front door and got in the only smell was the scent of a brand new car, the smell we all know, and that I know now, is the scent of proof that there is a GOD.

Singing Our Doubts Away

Even the most faithful follower doubts! (See message from John the Baptist to Jesus in Matthew 11.)  A great verse to often pray is, “I believe; help my unbelief!”  A well-lived life is a stalwart hedge to doubt.  Hiking, singing and reading great books sensitizes us to the profoundness of our consciousness of the significant meaning of beauty that is beyond our ability to comprehend.  For example, there are two pieces of meat in your throat that vibrate and those vibration can be so beautiful that someone can open their mouth and music, exquisite music, comes out.  (Elvis, Hank and Adele come to mind)  Now Who ever thought that up and then had the power to create it and make it work is fully worthy of a worship that expels doubt.  We should each sing more often if for no other reason than to say, “thank You!!!”
