Carl Sagan Enriching Our Quiet Time

“Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.”  This response to ignorance by the great scientist Carl Sagan is in fact a great testimony of our faith.

There is a room, now empty, that is filled with evidence of a great human; being!  However, there is no longer any evidence of her as human but only her as being.

Thank you Dr. Sagan for your testimony of our Savior’s love for Mamaw.

Life Sounds

Have you ever heard the heartbeat of a baby in its mother’s womb, that rapid rhythm of hope?  If you listen closely to sultry dark dawns, night sounds have the same rapid rhythm; just as hopeful for the dawn of life.  When the heart or earth beats in pulse and measure there is no doubt of life hoping to live.

Any hindrance of that is an act of meanness.

Truth Never Fails Neither Should Art

There is no part of us or anything we possess that Jesus doesn’t have rightful ownership of.  It is this one fact, above all others, which cause the sinner and the saint the most problems.  In this case possession is not 9/10ths of the law but all the law.  Another law that we are all familiar with and is applicable to this truth, “ignorance is no excuse.”

Art either contains all the truth it attempts or it is not art but a failed attempt.

Jesus Hollering

Yesterday I spent with several hundred high school students.  It is very difficult to get people to pay attention and the phrasing is an apt representation.  It is like asking them to give you money.  Most Americans are attention wealthy but frugal when attending to anyone but themselves.

Even Jesus had to holler!
Luke 8:8

I guess its not just American teenagers.

Hide and God Seek

The graveside!  The hardest.  We bury what was ours and then drive away leaving our beloved to The Great Mystery.  Death has no victory in our faith but that in no way unravels the riddle.

My great niece Carson playing hide and go seek at the funeral yesterday.
How apropos.  I find it meaningful when children play at funeral homes.  One of
the greatest testaments of our faith, "for the Kingdom of God belongs
to such as these."  Jesus

The War For New

A new semester is to begin today.  I pay a heavy price of anxiety for new beginnings.  I do not know why I am subjected to this curse.  I am confident of my subject and convinced of the righteousness of the cause for which I teach.  It may be that it is not anxiety at all but a war with the accusers who hate everything New.
