Advent waiting day six. I was reminded yesterday that being on the earth is risky business filled with choices for good or bad. Waiting doesn’t mean a suspension of life but an anticipating longing for victory while faithfully and courageously engaging in the cosmic battle of right over wrong. Most of life’s battles for good or small skirmishes, minor choices, that lead to a definitive character that over time move us from trench soldier to leading general. Because the Advent wait has been so long we can imagine our choices have nothing to do with the cosmic battle where The Right will eventually win over wrong. But the truth is, “everything counts.” The great thing about making mistakes as a trench soldier is that generals are the most forgiving. Generals know more than anyone that everyone makes mistakes, even generals, and while waiting we all live to fight another day.
