Day 8 of Advent
It is cold and dark with a thousand stars scattered above maybe
like the night of Christ’s birth. Night
or day, hot or cold, no way to really know; only that He came, God as baby, God
as human, God showing up, God with us.
Showing up is one thing, sticking around is another. For years He stuck it out. This Christmas seems to be happening faster
than normal, the time moving quicker than the days allotted, the event
approaching faster than it seems it should.
I imagine for an Eternal God living in timelessness, the time from Eden
to Bethlehem passed sooner than He had wished and the time from Bethlehem to Ascension
passed slower than He wished. Time
marches and drags for everyone, I guess, even for The Maker of it.
God with us, needs eternity.
