Day 20 of Advent
Began reading one of my favorite passages in the Bible, Exodus
25 and then continuing on to the end of the book. God begins a new relationship with humans, collaborator. He outlines the design and materials list for
the construction of the Tabernacle and then names Bezalel and Oholiab as the collaborating
artists. As an artist materiality, the
ability of a material to carry the burden of the concept you are developing, is
paramount to art making. God’s list of
materials includes gold, silver, blue, purple and scarlet, leather, wood and
more. God is saying these substances,
because of their quality, are able to carry the burden of the concept of Him
and humans being in close contact and in personal relationship. This is Advent. The next time God does this His material list
with be blood, bone, eyes, hands, ears, consciousness, and a heart, a Human
Being God. His materials list just went
through the roof.
