Our family lives by simple rules two of which have served us
well; if you don’t work you don’t eat and some people build the world and some
people live in it, Bensons build. We
have found hiking and camping to be a great way to instill both. Camping requires work to build a sustainable
home in the wilds, insuring that the basic needs of the family are met, warmth,
shelter, safety, nourishment and hygiene.
Prolonged stays require daily effort to insure survival. Survival requires work, living requires working
with intention and creativity—that’s building.
