How to start The Sabbath; smile.
Let God and you know you are in, you are human, you believe, you need
help with your unbelief and you want to be involved. Stop yourself and acknowledge that there are
two parts to The Sabbath, meeting with others to reset your life towards God
and refocus your attention on Him and insure He is absolutely central and
foundational to everything—and secondly to rest with family. Rest is as varied as humans are. Some rest mowing the yard, some rest boating,
some rest picnicking, some play games and some hike and some spend hours at the
dinner table but all should rest together. At the end of the Sabbath, along toward
dinner come back together in your home and just be close, like sit together in
the living room, watch a wholesome movie, Pollyanna is a good one or Planet
Earth (Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom with Marlin Perkins was good when I was
kid) and end the day like you began, read The Word, make it interesting for you
children, play a game with it but make The Word, the point to again refocus on
God. Have family prayer where everyone gets
on their knees and prays out loud. Lie down
in bed, hold your lovers hand, and pray with thanksgiving. Smile.
