The family is all here; all 17 of us and three dogs under one roof. It is a house full. I marvel at how different each one is, and how tied to each we all are. We are deep blood family, East Tennessee mountain folk, The Blood, the family, and the mountains, that’s all that counts and we all know it. But we are not clannish in the mountain sense, we are missional in the Biblical sense, we stick with each other and we stick with you. We are a crazy lot, loyal to the last drop, we take only God and our love for each other seriously but give no quarter to taking ourselves seriously. We are fully aware of our faults but always give the other a pass for theirs and continually remind each other of the gifts of mercy and grace. We don’t like you crossing one of ours but try to ignore your crossing of us. It’s a zoo but a petting zoo, a growing brood, an ever-widening circle unbroken, dependent upon God and love to always, without fail, secure the bond.
