Can you remember how much wiser you became between kindergarten and high school? What about from 18-30? How about 30 to 45? One of the great gifts of life is that age gives you time to become wiser, to learn more, and apply that knowledge to life. But wisdom is not a product of learning, it is an attitude toward God that opens the door to being able to be wise. Having that attitude, coupled with learning, reading, writing, thinking, given time as we age, these things create great wisdom. Mentoring is one of the results of the wise when one understands more one seeks to share that understanding. Tragically, youth and popular culture often not only fail to understand this but openly reject and despise those that are most wise. I was a stupid young person, I knew it all, but two great events brought me to my senses, one on July 5, 1986, and the other on November 10, 1986. I was 28 years old and was confronted with the fact that I didn’t know anything. Wisdom doesn’t come from humans but is a gift to us as we avail ourselves to its Creator determinedly seeking Him, and one of the great pleasures of acquiring it is sharing it.
Thank you for affirming in multiple ways, including here today, that there is a need for the creation of this mentoring model which is on my mind even if I don't know where God is leading this journey.
