In 1970 when I was in the seventh grade my dad took me down to Cherokee
Hardware in Athens Tennessee to buy a pair of white football cleats. In those days white cleats where very
brash. I did it because my hero was Joe
Namath and I wanted to be just like him.
I have always liked the person who was brave enough to say he was great
and talented enough to pull it off.
John McEnroe and Muhammad Ali are two other favorites.
As I have grown older I have learned one serious lesson, just
because you are the greatest doesn’t mean you will stay the greatest. Your body will eventually deny you that
title. Ironic that the thing that gave
it too you is also the thing that will take it away. Serious life lessons!
