There
is a cold rain on this dark morning.
Fall seems to have finally arrived bolstered by the fight she’s had
pushing summer out of Tennessee. It is a
strange thing but I have thought often of all the cotton still in the fields
now being washed by this rain and then to dry in the cool sunny fall of the
coming days. Betty and I are road
tripping today to an art workshop in NW Tennessee and will drive through many
of these white fields washed with fall rain awaiting harvest to be used in the
softest summer dresses and cool sheets, it and our bodies perfectly suited (no
pun intended) for each other. I read
this morning the following prayer found in Exodus;
The
Lord bless you and keep you;
The
Lord make his face to shine upon
you, and be gracious to you;
The
Lord lift up his countenance upon
you, and give you peace.
Fall,
rain, cotton, Betty in a summer dress…The Lord is blessing!
