I Am Being More Human

I never knew that getting old would be like it is, the reduction of ability of so much of my physical being.  I thought you just got older but you also get lesser than.   I am also surprised by the degree of it; I am not twice as less at 60 (almost) as I was at 30, I am significantly more than twice.  My senses are the most surprising; their reduction is aggravating as well as a complete surprise.  Now there are improvements as well.  I am much wiser and economical with my senses and my movements.  I am significantly more sensitive to beauty, the created order and the marvel of the human being as a physical being.  In almost every way, out of necessity, I have become more efficient.  A good example, I allow my eyes to give me to the same experience that hikes use to give me.  By this I mean that I am much more visually aware of the created order in front of me and not so driven to take my body to it.  It is a truth that I am more fulfilled with being than doing which has made the old adage, “human being not human doing” an absolute; I am being more human.  There is a great mystery there.
