There’s “thereness” and then there’s celebrating
“thereness.” Our whole family joined by
an ancient river yesterday and played.
It struck me that the river was there but we were celebrating being
there. The earth is there and almost
always in its “thereness” seems completely made for humans to be with it. Humans on the other hand are there but we are
there to be with each other. Now what
struck me as kind is that it seems that when humans are together with nature
our “thereness” becomes celebratory as if nature reminds us of our rapid
transience and we dance and frolic in our being able to be. An ancient river can slowly carry our
thoughts to eternity from which it sprang and kindly reminds us that we are
going there. That to me is kind!
