SORE AND TIRED

Making sculpture is hard work and requires a tremendous effort over a prolonged period of time to be completed.  Most believe that sculpture is just made but imagine this; something that has never been seen or built before, that is enormously large and complex, must be safe, stand up to all the weather and humans can do to it and still maintain its power, pass countless inspections and reviews by degreed and licensed professionals and often with materials that are heavy and have never been used in that way before AND when you are finished humans will consider it as a work of art.

Now conceive of that work, design and engineer it, and show up and build it.  To say I am tired, sore and tentative this second morning of a four day build would be an understatement.

But today I get to make art!

End of first day.
