At my 21 Art Retreat where I hang out with a passel of art kids in
the woods. I do not know if I would ever
do this out of my own volition but I can say that, though forced for 21 years
to do it, I do find it, on some level, rewarding. Young people are truly a transcendent
experience for the old. It reminds me of
the days when I was young, when my body was new and fresh, my mind full of
wanderlust and my physical strength held all kinds of promise for
accomplishment. Young is never wasted on
the young because you have the body to pull it off. And it is never wasted on the old because it
makes you grateful for your past gifts. Youth
is only wasted on those that never mature to an understanding that time alive
is a gift from God and time granted for old age is a gift you never
earned.
