One Shall Become Two

In a hotel in Chicago for another solo show and lecture.  Sitting quietly before dawn drinking coffee, reading The Ancient Book beginning my day.  I saw a fellow artist the other day, a writer, and told him my body was wearying under the burden of artist.  He agreed but then said, “It’s what we do!”

“…and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you…”
Paul in I Thessalonians

Betty sleeps soundly in the other room.  She’s got the quiet life and I’ve got the work with your hands.  I guess this “two shall become one” really means, when your old it takes two to be one.  JJJ
