There are two worlds, the straight line and the organic. In God’s creation He use the organic line, mountains,
stones, rivers. But when we read the
Bible He dictates His temple in exacting straight lines, perfect symmetry, and
perfect geometry. The study of fractals
gives all lines the ability to be mathematically understood even all organic
lines. As an artist I find this
disturbing because I have a strong affinity toward the organic. What are we to learn from this? I have often heard it stated that math is the
one true art form, its perfection being the ideal of beauty. God is the ultimate perfection, Himself the
Idea of Beauty. However the Bible
teaches us that when God sent His Son to earth “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing
in his appearance that we should desire him.” Isaiah 53:2 We know the love of Christ, not by His
exacting features but by the love that He has for each of us and love is not
mathematical.
