Softly and Tenderly Backup Vocals To The Coffee Cup

I read the question this morning, “Does the universe have a purpose?” I had only to think for a moment before knowing the answer was an absolute affirmative.  The universe seems to exist so that I can and can well.  It serves my basic need to survive, oxygen, water, and sustenance. It provides for my greater need to provide the means for my labors to be successful, providing me with materials, set laws, light, and environments all conducive to vocational success.  It also provides me with emotional and psychological support in which love, sex and family all play a role.  Lastly, it seems to provide me with the ability to have meaning.  This is two-fold; one, art seems to be juxtaposed against non-art so as to point to a higher level of understanding my being.  A beautiful handmade coffee cup beside a plastic milk jug declares an understanding that underscores the ideas that all of life provides the opportunity to live out a value of meaning.  Secondly, art is foundationally supported by the beauty of the universe that “softly and tenderly” hums of a Greater Creator whose creative acts are so deeply and truly beautiful that humans have only one idea to attach to that truth, the word Divine.  At that point, the only rational act is to give ones self over completely to That Divine.
