Horizontal Hold

The other day I explained something poorly in class and in frustration said, “My horizontal hold is off!”  All of my students looked at me in complete bewilderment.  I knew immediately they had no idea of what I meant.  I tried to explain it (try it yourself) but because they had zero experience it was impossible for them to have any comprehension of my statement or subsequent explanation.  Life is changing and the rate is accelerating.  At this point I could go on and on about horizontal hold being a good metaphor for death, how my classroom is an analogue TV and my teaching is the horizontal hold button, but all of that would just make your horizontal hold and vertical hold be off.  What this blog is really about is the problem I am having being a Brontosaurusanalog bumping around in a room full of Homo Erectusdigtals.

One of my favorite sculptors Brett Kern and his
ceramic brontosaurus.
