The first 20 years of making pots
I made prototypes. The next 15 years I made
types. The last 5 years I’ve begun making
archetypes. Several things make this important,
one being I have a limited amount of pots left to make. Although I have had surgery my hands remain
completely numb and my wrists are always painful. Another is I have been able to make pots long
enough that I am finally making pieces that are sincere (Greek for without
wax). Lastly I have come to know that
the best works are those that allow the clay to be what it already is. Heavy hands are for the young who have the
life to outlive their weight.
