Challenged

Being challenged is good for us.  It creates an immediate evaluation of our abilities, it requires realistic appraisal of ourselves, are we up to it?  Most people limit their challenges to themselves, it is not hard to live up to the one you are trying to live up to if the one you are trying to live up to is you.  We should choose Someone whose life is really worth emulating!  It is not a great leap to see how the idea of art and art making can be a way of being challenged by that Someone.  The idea is the hardest to accomplish in art making and Anyone who can think up snow or butterflies or sneezing or love is Someone worthy of an artist’s emulation.  I often look at random natural objects, driftwood comes to mind, as challenges not only to my art making but to my ability to be truly grateful for Someone’s challenge.
