To be an artist, is at its highest level, a devotion to beauty,
not its discovery but its actuality. We
do at every turn and in every moment discover beauty, we seemed attuned in that
way, but its existence is the thing that drives us mad in our desire to live in
active gratefulness for its being. The vexing
part for so many artists is that they cannot find an Object for their gratefulness
therefore leaving art as their only target for this compulsion toward devotion
(worship) for beauty’s existence.
