Advent Day Sixteen +

At the end of every evening we put out our Advent candles.  It is always melancholy for me.  A candles only purpose is to be lit, to have fire, to burn, to give light.  Only when it is lit is it a candle, otherwise it’s a wax stick.  That is what Christ coming did for us; He offers us a chance to be fully ourselves if we will let Him come into us.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:14-16
