Mr. Kaepernick and Nike trouble me but before moving on let me relate two things that happened to me yesterday. I am reading The Wright Brothers biography and never knew how meaningful their story is. Two young men with no training or support set about to build a plane and more importantly, learn how to fly it. This seems rather tame in today's advanced climate but think about this. If you had never seen or heard of a propeller how would you come up with the concept, know how to design it and then hand carve two? Secondly, yesterday I was at a government building seeking a license. The line was long for the automated check-in and I was becoming agitated. In front of me was a single young man with a young woman and in front of them was another single young man. As that man’s turn came it was obvious that he couldn’t read. The young lady stepped forward and with great sincerity managing his dignity walked him slowly through the process. As he finished she did the same for the young man she was with. Neither could read and her only reason for being there was to help. Wilbur, Orville, and this young lady weren’t wearing Nikes but they all three did “Just do it.”
