Holy As Art

I am studying the word Holy.  What does that word mean?  When I first began my study I passed over it as if I knew its meaning.  I did not.  It is one of the most profoundly meaningful words, almost always tied to religion and always reserved by us for use in only the most sacred.  We have as a culture degraded most words including love but “holy” we seem wary to mess with.  At its core Holy means loving rightly as in loving God with all we have and loving others as we love our self.  How does that apply to art making?  It means that art should in every way reflect that.  It should always propose a new way of being in our world, and a way that is instructionally beneficial.  It give meaning both to the maker and to the viewer that rises above all other meanings of Art and places it squarely in the realm of The Divine, where, I absolutely believe, is the only place left for it.

In this I am a disciple and overwhelming, gratefully so.
