A Eulogy From Fair Haven

Two great bodies of water flow before me this morning, The Great Tennessee River flows westward as a cold grey fog eases eastward above it.  The earth proceeds daily along its course, the great ancient one who has always been with us, before us, still abiding kindly with us.  It lounges as rivers, yawns fall, awakes plants and seals all with its solid ever presence.  The earth, one great kindness imagined and spoken of as, “Let there be!” continues being and being well!!!

I will go to a funeral today, a loved one of a loved one.  Kind words and sweet music will be heard and then at long last, from the womb to the womb she will be interred.  Into the earth she will be placed and the procession will continue as the earth, our great earth, eventually carries all safely in her bosom as she and all others await that great rebirth to come.  The earth will keep us all, “safe and secure from all alarm” until the final alarm is sounded and “the dead in Christ shall rise”, alive forever more.
