After every world event a sad
trend develops, everyone declares their side, lines up and locks up. Its like the whole world is engaged in a game
of Red Rover now best described as Mean Rover.
In elementary school we all were friends, in adulthood we are not. Our lines are moving further apart. We are not intent on solving our problems but
proving we’re right. The sad part is
that we play with a smug since of moral superiority that in itself is deadly to
the Game of Life.
Life really is playing. When we are young we learn to play with each
other, obey the rules, win with dignity and loose with heart to play
again. We no longer play together. Children don’t play and public media
continually feeds us a stream of adults that can’t play together. We don’t want to play the game we want to win
the game. Remember when you were younger
how you loved to play. Winning was often
a result of play but not the goal. Play
was the goal.
Perhaps play is the ultimate
goal of life and will eventually be the reward of heaven, where Red Rover is
enjoyed and being mean is never allowed.
