I was reading the 1610 Puritan Prayer book this morning and the writer prayed a part of the verse in Ephesians that God is able to do for us more than we ask or imagine. In my continued dullness, I thought for a moment about all the things I had asked for that hadn’t been given to me but then I recalled the verse said more than ‘I imagined.’ I imagined some things I hadn’t asked for or imagined; you can drink rainwater, it comes fresh. I’ve never run out of love and I’ve never had to buy, work, look or pay for it and yet it is a real treasure. White is the perfect color for milk. Wood floats. I can taste sweet. Some things I never imagined but God gives me “immeasurably” amounts of.
