Singing Into The Hurricane

Amos 4-7

Most of the Bible is written to believers and these stinging indictments are no exception.  America’s churches are so wealthy that there should be no private nursing homes, no poverty in inner cities, and no hospital corporations.  We’re so wealthy there shouldn’t be an orphan or hungry child worldwide; our wealth should be spent on bringing Christ to the entire hurting world. 

In this season of political pandering believers are fawning at the feet of the democrats and republicans as so many lab dogs to the tit of savior’s milk.  We’re singing into the hurricane. 

“I (God) hate, I reject your

         festivals,

nor do I delight in your

         solemn assemblies…

Take away from me the

         Noise of you’re songs;

I will not even listen to the

         Sound of your harps

But let justice roll down like

         waters

And righteousness like an ever-

         flowing stream.”  5:21-24

We’re not democrats or republicans.  We’re followers of Christ the King.  It’s not whom we’ll side with but whom we’ll share with.
