Jonah
This book is the most magical
book in the Bible. God gives a
command, God causes a storm, God provides a great fish to swallow Jonah and
three days later directs the fish to vomit Jonah on a beach. God spares a great kingdom, causes a
plant to grow, guides a worm and the book ends as it begins with a face to face
with Jonah. The most amazing
story. It’s so amazing that Jesus
refers to it twice in His ministry.
The most magical though is not
in the fish or the face to face,
“…for I (Jonah) knew that Thou art a gracious and compassionate God,
slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning
calamity.” Jonah 4:2b
It’s that God loves all people
and longs to have a personal relationship with each one. Whatta magical offer, a personal
friendship with the Maker of all that is.
Don’t you just love God!!!
