The Bold Italics Underline
Jeremiah 21-23
Jeremiah’s lamenting bathes all
of history in the tragedy of rejecting God but the most yearning lament belongs
to God Himself as He continually longs for us.
‘Thus says the Lord, “Behold, I set before you the way of life and the
way of death…” “Woe to him who
builds his house without righteousness…” 21:8; 22:13
And then like a Gentle Loving
Father who knows the weaknesses of His beloved children He provides
righteousness for us;
“Behold, the days are
coming,” declares the Lord,
“When I shall raise up for
David a righteous
Branch;
And He will reign as king
and act wisely
And do justice and
righteousness in the
land…
And this is His name by which
He will be called,
‘The Lord our
righteousness.” 23:5-6
