Shall
fruit be blamed if it hang wearily
A
day before it perfected drop plumb
To
the sad earth from off its nursing tree?
Ripeness
must always come with loss of might…
Born
in the darkness, what fair-flashing gem
Would
to the earth go back and nestle there?
George MacDonald
Two
great truths here;
1.
In
the decaying of ripe fruit fallen from a tree, its seeds find nutrients in
which to grow into trees producing their own fruit. Ripe fruits greatest ripeness is its
offspring.
2.
In
a walk of faith it is often easier for the diamond to return to the darkness and
be coal than for the coal to come forth from the darkness as a diamond.
