The 747 I'd Put In Your Neighborhood

I am fairly ignorant as humans go, missed a lot of formal education sitting on the teachers lap or chasing girls and meaning.  Often I am surprised by thoughts that come into my head, like waking in the morning and looking in the mirror and seeing a face you don’t recognize, a face very much prettier than your own.  I have a habit of listening to the quiet.  I actually stop and try to hear if I can hear it.  Quiet follows the economic law of supply and demand.  It is so valuable because there is so little of it.  It would surprise most of us when we listen for quiet how much we actually hear.  This morning it was quiet enough that I could hear the clock ticking on the wall.

This is a long story to make a single point.

So anyway I was just sitting thinking about how I love the sound of quiet when our furnace kicked on (when you are listening for quiet it sounded like a 747 flying through my mind) and startled me.  I laughed to myself because it reminded me why I wasn’t in charge of heat.  I would have great pipes hanging on every pole in town hooked to enormous fans blasting heat here and there.  It wouldn’t be a 747 in my mind but in my neighborhood.  Made my ignorant mind remind me to be thankful for the sun.  Much better engineering.
