James 4-I Peter 2
To The American Church
HOPE…one of the most powerful
gifts from God, but one that is often misappropriated. It elected a president because it is
the empty spot in most Americans.
We have attached our hope to our wealth and it has left our souls
bankrupt. Americans own 40% of the
world’s wealth and consume 80% of the world’s pain medicine. But our gluttonous desire for pleasure
cannot be met by our own wealth; we now have to borrow other’s wealth, 16 trillion
dollars, to assuage our need for hope.
“Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a
witness against you… You have lived luxuriously on the earth and led a life of
wanton pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter…knowing
that you are not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your
futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with the precious
blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.”
James 5: 3a, 5; I Peter 1:18-19
If you are going to place your
hope in precious metals, the iron in Christ’s blood is your best bet.
