Romans 6-7
At one point art was dominated
by masterful rendering of recognizable themes, then a great freedom was
discovered… self-expression and artists embarked on a marvelous time of art
making centered in the freedom to explore outside the slavery of corrective
rendering. Great works were and are created by great artists like Monet,
Pollock, Warhol, and Kappor. However, in this freedom of self-expression
lies the hideous seed of self-indulgence. Bacon, Mapplethorpe,
Serrano and Madonna often slide into this realm.
