Sometimes we can read Job and
forget that he has just lost all ten of his children to a meaningless
death. Let’s be honest. Job doesn’t get it! Job’s friends don’t get it! We don’t get it! Job says in 10:19, “from womb to tomb…”
he doesn’t understand.
God tells us in Isaiah 55:8, “My
thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything
you could imagine.”
Jesus said at his crucifixion, “Father,
forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:24)
Let’s face it. WE DO NOT GET GOD! That’s Job’s, his friends’ and
humankind’s greatest dilemma! Will
we make “getting God” a requirement for believing in God?
If so, there’s no hope!!!
