Job 11-14
Life is a vexing proposition and
Job is learning it the hard way.
His next friend, Zophar, steps up and arrogantly insists that Job’s
plight is a result of sin.
This is a continual struggle for
Christians. We often believe that
bad things happen to believers as a result of sin in their lives. Obviously this can be the case as
proved by Ananias and Sapphira, Acts 5.
It’s also true that sin has consequences that believers often have to
suffer with. I recently heard the testimony
of a believer who came to know Christ after years involved in
homosexuality. He is HIV
positive.
Even though God has a right to
and sometimes does punish us for sin, and although sin does have consequences,
neither is true in Job’s situation.
There is only one truth that is
assured as true every time and in every circumstance.
“And we know that God causes
everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called
according to his purpose for them.
Romans 8:28
