I
walked down the hall this morning and my body sounded like a bunch of old bones
clacking together like some primal drum solo.
There is a certain futility to life, we are born, live and die. We toil and strive for things that decay the
greatest of which is our body. This futility will soon lead to all manner of
wrongs unless we quickly remind ourselves of our purpose for being on this
planet, “lay up for yourself treasure in heaven.” This admonition from Christ makes one great
assumption, that we will be in heaven.
There is a great paradox here. We
can only be in heaven if we accept the gift from Christ and if we accept the
gift we are then commanded to live a life that naturally lays up the
treasure. Its like direct deposit, we
don’t go to heaven and deposit it, Christ in us lays Himself up there in our
account. It brings new meaning to the phrase "Being Saved!"

Quiet Sonnet
The
woods are quiet this morning. The pleasant
sonnets of sweet birds are just breaking through the forest and color, so
filled with His love, is beginning to emerge and give hope to the new world
being born. The treetops have become
sunlit sonnets of anticipation and night is conceding to day. Mornings are always a worthy way to begin
working out our salvation.

Humming Birds Peep and Crows Caw
A
breeze is on and carries with it a hint of sweet flower, lily I think. Reminds me of a few people I know that always
seems to carry with them an aura of kindness.
But this breeze carries its gift from what and who knows where. Reminds me of God who’s gifts are always shining
on us in abundance while most of the world has ceased to even wonder why the
sun seems perfectly warm, blue is a perfect color for sky and fragrance a
natural part of lilies.

Good Will Hunting
Can
you define love?
“Love
is the sovereign preference of my person for another person, embracing everyone
and everything in that preference.”
Oswald Chambers
Because
God has commanded us to love it is imperative that we seek earnestly to define
it otherwise we might be thinking we are loving but are actually doing
something quite different. Since God is
love He would be a good, and actually, the only place to start. I imagine that is where Mr. Chambers started.
Much
good will to your hunting!!!
| Love! Yesterday's picnic on the great lawn at the University of Maryland getting Zac settled in to his graduate school in sculpture. |

Caught Up Into My Own Third Heaven
If
the only rose we had seen was a picture, and movies were made with digital
effects that allowed us to see a rose bud become a rose, those special effect
would fill the theaters and the lines outside would be abuzz with
excitement. And imagine a day when a
botanist, certainly a future Noble Prize winner, announced that he had grown a
rose bud and that on a certain date it would bloom. We would all around it gather, all media and
news outlets send in their crews to beam it world wide and the day would be a
holiday and all school children let out to sit around their flat screen to
see. And the grandest nose would be
first in line and a poet laureate near by to give the experience as full a
voice as possible and verse and rhythm penned and read to us all as we longed
to share the experience our self…
How
soon we become so dull as to even know the meaning of “How Great Thou Art” much
less fall face down in true heartfelt praise.
