There is a gift of being human that is so
basic that we often overlook it. It is
the gift of presence. It is the same
gift that allows sculpture to often be more capable of carrying the ideas of
art than painting. Sculpture, the three
dimensional object, is present in the space as we are. Painting proposes to have something in the
space that is not actually there.
Sculpture has half won the war before the battle has begun. So it is to have Christians present in the
world. To be present means Christ is
half to be believed for, He in us, is there.
If we, as the Other Half, live His life in the present, the believing in
faith unto salvation, is at least a viable option to those lost but present
with us. The sad fact is that it is very
difficult to get us to leave the comfort of our Bible studies and churches to
be Christ present with the lost.
