Luke 2
Today’s reading is one of the
most beautiful and familiar passages of recorded history. The simplicity and sincere expression
of the events of Christ’s birth can never be equaled. A government moves the entire world to get Mary to
Bethlehem. A feed trough becomes
the first earthly home of God and angles announce the event to men fragrantly
steeped in earth and animal.
Here is the sweetest note.
“And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God
and men.” 52
