Isaiah 50-52
I often wonder why I am a
Christian, why a follower of Christ?
The passage today renewed that wonder and gave me a hint to its origin.
“I gave My back to those who
strike Me,
And My cheeks to those who
pluck
out the beard;
I did not cover My face from
humiliation
and spitting…
So His appearance was
Marred
more than any
Man,
And His form more than the
Sons
of men.” 50:6; 52:14b
We should continually remind
ourselves of the Passion of Christ.
He didn’t endure the horrific assault of evil so we could be saved; He
did it because He loved us.
One of the greatest truths of
all Christendom is that our actions are not based on evangelism or a desire to
see men saved, but on an overwhelming and unquenchable spring of love for all
humans that Christ renews in us everyday.
