Luke 16:13-31
Recovering Materialists. I once read that phrase and thought how
that aptly describes most Americans who have chosen to faithfully follow the
teaching of Christ. It certainly
describes me. The rich man in this
passage is described as “Habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, gaily
living in splendor everyday.” As I
write this I am wrapped in an LL Bean terry cloth robe, wearing LB Evans
leather slippers, drinking Gavalia Coffee sitting on a 19’/30’ screened in back
porch typing on an Apple MacBook Pro laptop. By American standards I would be categorized as middle class,
by God, “habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, gaily living in splendor
everyday.”
I am not fully recovered!!!
