Just Make Do

Unsettled days.  Days when life is changing dramatically and the future is an unknown.  Days when routine is no longer available and plotting a new course is your only option.  Resiliency is one of the greatest assets of humans.  We make do.  We survey our problems, check for resources, create plans and contingencies and move forward, maybe slow and muddling but forward as best we can.  We are resilient and for that we should always find time for praise.  We make do because we are made to make do, “fearfully and wonderfully made” to make do!

How Did We Get So Lucky

Light rain all night and heavy dew this morning.  The earth works.  Why?  This crystal blue ball floating in what we know is an enormous black apathetically hostile vacuum.  Why?  It is like Someone of Immense Power is enamored with us.

There Would Be An Empty Vacuum Tube

The longer I live the more I am conscious of the sincerity of “stuff”.  Take color.  Substances like this I cannot articulate or explain but they exist in such abundance that there is no denying the miraculousness of their existence.  How does “stuff” like this come to be and to continue to be?  I pose this dilemma to myself in this way.  If I had a vacuum tube that was empty and I came back in 4.5 billion years what would I find in the tube?  Color?  Could anyone imagine such a sincere natural occurrence to equal that?  So what do I attribute color too?  That is a reasonable question that everyone should definitively try and answer.

P.S.  You know some scientists believe that color only exists in our minds, that our brains translate color waves and that in reality the world is black and white, made colorfully vibrant by our brains.  Now that would never show up in the vacuum tube.

Peter Maxx was the first artist
I admired because of his use of color.

A Caterpillar Sign

While I was praying this morning an enormous caterpillar fell right at my foot.  Literally right out of the sky.   An incident like this does not happen; it must be a sign of some sort! I mean a caterpillar falling from the sky?  I propose the following meaning of the sign; praying is in many ways the way boys become men like caterpillars become butterflies.  Or maybe he just slipped off the tree above me.

Leaf Worship

Leaves are one of the greatest miracles, gifts to everyone.  Think of all the times they have served you.  Oh Great And Mighty Lover, Maker of Every Leaf, i am sincerely grateful.
