Summer has staked its claim on everything under the sun.  The leaves stand firm as does the corn, grass and summer blooms.  But the sun will have its way and before it’s over will tan everything to shades of red, orange, yellow and brown and allow all to march around as if in some great holiday parade.

Your Place On Planet Earth

A few years ago, while idly lecturing to a group of freshman art students I heard myself make the following statement, “I have lived on this earth longer than I will live on it.”  I had never thought it or heard it but it just came out as if I were giving them the time of day.  I cannot tell you how many times since I have thought of that statement. 

First album I ever bought.  Oh 1972!!!  When I
was going to live on this planet longer than I had. 

A Preacher's Perspective On A Groom

I am presiding over a wedding today.  The couple has chosen Holy Matrimony.  Holy Marriage always humbles me.  I like the groom’s part the best.  For the first time in his life he is agreeing, in covenant with God Almighty, that from this day forever more, another human being is more valuable than himself.  The ultimate good life perspective. 

Your Life Depends On What You Believe

What if you believed there was A God and every morning you believed you spent time with Him.  You believed He encouraged you to love Him, to love the person across the street, to not steal, not hurt someone and be a good family member.  You believed that because He asked you too it was your duty to be good to all, share your resources, and think good thoughts toward the government.   You believed that if you sincerely believed in Him and attempted to live this way that He would eventually reward you by allowing you to move in with Him.   It isn’t the only way to live your life but it sure is a great way.   

  

Would You Hire King George III

I asked myself this question and pondered it thoroughly before reaching my conclusion.  If I owned a mom and pop business would I hire Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Trump to manage it?  No.  Why?  Neither can be trusted. 

I then wondered; am I so out of tune with half of the citizens of America?

I have been called an idealist more than once but it is possible to reject them both and seek a better person.  We did that with King George III.
