Do You Need A Heart Monitor?

I have had two significant experiences in the last week.  One found me in the heart unit at Cumberland Medical Center in what is called the Telemetry wing, so named because each patient is hooked up to a monitoring device that feeds vast amounts of information about the patient to a central location where a qualified person receives the information and takes appropriate action.

The other experience was a long hike in the mountains where I was tending and altar I had built years ago.  The world, the natural world, is like a great monitoring device that lets us know how God is doing.  We are the qualified person who receives all the information and takes appropriate action.  Mountain forests always evoke appropriate action…it requires me to look heavenward and exclaim “How Great Thou Art.”
