“Joy comes in the morning.” There is a certain peace that comes with
dawn. I do not know why but I do know it
is true. Because I know it is true I
should meditate on the truth to gain wisdom from God. It may be that it is a physical manifestation
of a spiritual truth, light will always overcome darkness, and a single light
cannot be extinguished by a world filled with darkness. It also seems to be manifested in color, as
if blacks were somehow endowed with brooding negativism and whites and brights
were endowed with life and joy. It is
worth noting that these are universal feelings shared across cultures, beliefs,
genders and races. There are always
reasons to find joy in God whether in dawn’s early light or lightly hued
yellow.

How Art Is Thought Up
Can any art or any medium or material
carry the weight and burden necessary to acknowledge God? No.
But God has so endowed some material, stone and silk come to mind, with
such creative sincerity that it seems His creation of them was purposefully
done, in part, to allow humans to creatively confess Him. The same can be said of humans, are we
able? We are as the Spirit guides as we
learn from Bezalel.
List of materials that could possible
carry the burden of confessing God.
Stone
Silk
Gold
Water
Certain woods
Dirt (What an interesting thought
seeing as how the word as a adjective
is used to describe something
negative. This word may be only included
because of my involvement in clay.
However clay is a specific kind of dirt and I believe that many kinds of
dirt could be able to confess God.)
Salt
Many natural spices, herbs and
aromatics
Carbon
Precious stones including all
crystals
Peril
Cotton
Certain raw pigments, cobalt, iron
Are there man made materials?
Penicillin
Certain Glazes, celadon and maybe
shino
This will be the concept for my next work of art.

Contact
I have just read in Job, God’s
statement fleshing out Himself as I Am.
If we believe in The One and True God then these words are like Golden
Set Diamonds. An infinitesimally smaller
analogy would be having The World Book of another civilization downloaded to us
via The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (like in the movie Contact).
It is stunning to begin your day with "Contact" from God.

Rain Prayer
The rain falls on the frozen earth
and rises back toward heaven in a quiet, cloaking mist like prayers shrouding
my forest of sins from Him who has promised to cleanse me from all
unrighteousness.
You can learn a lot about God
standing on your back porch watching it rain.

The Big Bang Bust
So yesterday quantum physicists
announced that the universe did not begin in some single event but that it has
always been. What concerns me is that
now believers will try and weave God into this new theory much like they did
the old one. There will never be a way
for humans to know how and why the universe is or did or did not begin. We simply weren’t there! I am fascinated by science and most
fascinated by the science of the understanding of the universe. I applaud scientist that dedicate their lives
to understanding its mysteries and developing theories and equations to help
firm up our understanding of where we exist.
I am awed by their genius and fascinated by their learned
understandings. However my God cannot
fit in nor be a part of the universe. He
is a great mystery as Job found out when he tried to weave Him into his
understanding of the universe. God’s
main point when addressing Job was, “Where were you when I made…?” Job, like us, was simply not there.

A Thank You Prayer In The Forest
Students see themselves. They see paintings, sculptures and pots and
speculate at what they can make.
Creatives see material. They see
paint, stone and clay and wonder what they can create. Artists see forms, (full moons), lines, (a stream through a forest) colors, (night becoming day) and desperately seek ways to
say, “Thank You!”
God, Thank You. amen
